WHY CERTIFICATION & EDUCATION?
Professional groomers have a huge responsibility to keep pets safe and do the best possible groom on each pet. Certification and continuing education are important steps to keeping up with current industry standards and expectations.
The International Professional Groomers educates and certifies groomers for the safety of the pets in our care, while increasing and acknowledging our groomers skills to elevate the grooming profession. Your certifications demonstrate your professionalism and compassion.
IPG has expanded the opportunities for groomers to be certified. You can now participate in "live" testing on Zoom. Members can choose from new member and continuing education webinars offered monthly.
The first step on your certification journey is Track 1, “Certified Professional Groomer.” This safety certification is your foundation all groomers. Your next steps, if you choose are: Track 2, “Advanced Certified Groomer” (APG), demonstrating shape, style and symmetry and special needs pets, followed by Track 3, “International Certified Master Groomer” (ICMG) that demonstrates breed profile while still emphasizing safety and compassion, and showing your advanced grooming skills.
